Bio-Formats
The Java library for reading microscopy files.
OME partners at LOCI are releasing Bio-Formats, a standalone Java library for reading and writing popular microscopy file formats. It is capable of parsing both pixels and metadata for a large number of formats, as well as writing to several formats, and includes standardized metadata conversion to OME-XML.

The primary goal of Bio-Formats is to facilitate the exchange of microscopy data between both different software packages and different organizations, by converting proprietary microscopy data into the OME data model standard. See the Bio-Formats statement of purpose for more information.
